Road Trip Reaches End of the Line
Posted by Brendan on Sunday, June 20 @ 02:00:00 PDT

It`s the end of the line as we know it, and I feel fine.

All good things must come to an end, so too must conclude my near eternity of sitting strapped in the back of the car eating, sleeping, fussing and wondering if we'll ever be there, wherever this elusive "there" may be.

It's been very stimulating and all the parenting resources the 'rents* have read indicate that stimulation is a very good thing for the growing mind. I've seen neat and wierd stuff and people and had all kinds of chances to do fun and odd stuff. Sleeping in strange motels and stranger(s) houses is a small price to pay for the adventure of experiencing the world, living through a marching band and even getting to eat at a Sizzler (where I got a free banana without having to brandish my press pass).

Dad says he has to get back to his "daily grind" thing and apparently we've seen all there is to see without going too far south. We're not migratory birds you now. Besides, Mr. Baby Dominic has been running the site all this time and I'm just not sure his tiny typing tendrils are fully up to the task. Alas, homeward we must go.

The one chance I had to check the paper from the road there weren't any signs of the world having come to a complete stop, thankfully. Though it looks like he's been over publishing I'm not too worried. Still I should get back and do some micro-managing, make sure everything is okay.

So the pictures for this article play along perfectly with the end of the line theme I was shooting for but I have to wonder who ends a train track with either a log or a living tree? Neither seem very prudent ways of ending a train track (nor a road trip, but I'm a junior apprentice of metaphor so I get some leeway.)

We're headed back to the touring Chrysler now and I'm told I'll be back home by the time I wake up. It's been exciting and I'm looking forward to getting home. If you get the chance to travel long distances while unconscious I recommend it highly. Though I will have no recollection of it I promise you it's by far the best way to travel.

* 'Rents is the technical abbreviation for "parents".

Once you've gone so far there's nowhere to turn but back.
