See, this place ain`t half bad. I could live here. |
For those of you who don't regularly read my tales of woe and woah, I'll just tell you that I still live at home. Now that I've looked around at house prices I remember why, prices are crazy!
I've found a bunch of places I'd like to live. Theme parks, playgrounds and now I add to the list historical mansions. With unemployment up and the deficit climbing, one axiom I've found infallible is that cool housing is priced way out of reach.
Whilst casually strolling through a historical area of a historical town I found a new house I can see fit to call my own. Not only is it not for sale but it doesn't even permit unlawful trespass. No unlawful trespass? This is cruel and usual punishment!
Theme parks running around thirty million bucks a piece are bad enough but this is more like one of those snobby city parks with their snooty "not for sale" attitudes. Don't these people know who I am? I have literally hundreds of dollars at my disposal and let's face it, that's more money than people my age can even comprehend.
Sure it's a 115-year-old house* with a long story behind it but I'm an 18-month old journalist with a long story behind me. Why can't we make this happen? Money, logistics and in fact reality are the only obstacles to overcome at this point, then I should be cleared to move my toys in. Yet as good as it may sound when I put it that way, this majestic piece of history remains out of reach and not just because I have short arms, which I'm keenly aware that I do.
Until the government can come up with more aggressive negative interest programs to lower monthly payments for hard(ly) working folks like yours truly I guess I'm relegated to continue leeching off the old parents. I can justify that they keep me fed and entertained but it's really "the man" holding me down. Maybe I should convince my parents to move out, after all they are a bit old to still be living at home, even though it is their home we're talking about.
Whatever you people, fine. I'll be a good bee and get back to making honey but between you and me I've got my eye on the house on the hill and not just because I'm a fool though I'm sure that's a big part of it.
