Okay, yeah, I already have chocolate on my face. Long story. |
Wow, it's hard to believe but it's true, we've got 300 articles on the books already. Seems so long ago I was reporting the discovery of my feet but day after day they just keep adding up and here we are, go back and count 'em if you don't believe me.
To you loyal readers who have stuck with us I thank you. Sure we can be loud and sometimes messy but since "other peoples children" are the best kind, I'm proud to be the best for many of you.
Here's some fun facts about our first 300 articles.
Articles syndicated across and over ten different websites.
316,000 article pages read on this site with another 78,000 on other sites.
Over 114,000 handcrafted words written.
And that's just the readership numbers. I've got some coinage stuffed aside for my college fund and a journal of my journey through life like no other. I imagine the parents may have put in a few hours of time here and there helping out on the site but who ever knows what old people do anyhow?
When I say I'm less perplexed I hope you can see it. I've learned so many skills along the way and have solved so many puzzles. Take spoons for example, I can't believe I didn't know how much distance they add to a well-flung dollop of mashed potatoes. No one told me though, I had to figure it out for myself.
And when I say I'm nearly speechless I mean that too. Seriously like five solid words under my belt and the rest is all noise, pointing and heavy nodding, but come on here folks, if it ain't broke I'm not gonna fix it. Children should be seen and not understood, right?
No kidding aside (since that's something I really don't do) it's been a family venture since the beginning and with the addition of Dominic it will be even more so in the future, sadly for my own college fund. Working for Perplexing Times has allowed me so many opportunities to get out and do new things and the chronicles to look back at them. Maybe I'll remember them but for sure I can know I've grown from having the experience.
So I raise my tippy cup and offer this unbuttered toast; here's to 300 historic articles and to many 300's more. I hope you keep reading but I promise I'll keep writing. I kind of have to though, there's no "I" in team but there's still two in tuition.
Note: Don't be fooled by the article ID that appears in the URL up at the top, it may read well into the 300's but it counts a bunch of other pages too, not just the articles.
