Weve made no qualms about the great times weve had in Billings, Montana, and no review series would be complete without a write-up of one of the best places in the area, the Western Heritage Museum. Sure, its historic, and sure, its fun and interesting, but more than any of that, did you know its also Smithsonian accredited? Well its that, and affordable too!
Crawling was considered outmoded due to long-term health concerns regarding my knees. Also, crawling limits the use of one's hands, which may be needed to hold things during transit. Based on these factors and others, it was determined that a better method was needed.
During research it was unclear if there would be any market demand for this "walking." Preliminary studies indicated there would not be due to its inherent difficulty and the number of better alternatives available. Alternatives such as crawling have previously offered greater speed, stability and a much lower margin for error. With benefits like that in mind it was clear walking would have an uphill battle.
Another stellar alternative was "being carried." This had the greatest ease of use, highest speed, most flexibility and plenty of opportunity to carry things. The major drawback being, as I've grown in size and weight the number of people willing to tote me about has decreased, despite increased adorability.
During past weeks development has led from the earliest trials in which a single step was taken before a fall ensued, to taking several steps successfully. As of yesterday, January 10th, 2004, we have a working prototype with consistent results. Let me go on further in the next paragraph.
As of the trials of yesterday, I am able to take more than six consecutive steps. While speed and stability are still improving, the overall ease of function has improved dramatically. Now, without any coaxing, there are many instances where taking a toddle is preferred.
Tall people the house over are expressing concern, referring to the progress that will follow as "Pandora's box," "Holy Terror," and even "unbridled capacity for running amok." Despite requests to delay or cancel my program, progress will move forward.
For the younger generation I have to encourage that you also learn this skill. Don't rush it though, when you rush walking you get a lousy walk. It's not for everyone, but it is for me. And as for me, I must now conclude as my research still awaits me. My days of infancy are now officially at an end. I am a toddler.
